USA grown and manufactured organic cotton

 Natural cotton $20/lb

10/2 is a fine yarn, usually used for weaving at 4200 yards per pound - ypp.  It is usually set at 20-28 epi.  It will hand knit, crochet or knitting machines. For hand knitting it is a sportweight size when using 3 strands at once.  I will be happy to cone or ball it into 3 for you.  This is a very fine yarn.  If you use a crochet hook you might use a size 6 and a knitting needle of about a size 1.

This Organic colorgrown cotton was grown in Texas and processed in the States. The colorgrown cottons are from Thantex Mills. They are not mill ends, I wind from full cones to your specifications.  These cottons are not dyed so they do not fade.  Instead the become richer and brighter with washing.  If the color fades with sunlight, simply wash it and add a little washing soda or use a detergent that has washing soda in it.  Sometimes it will take up to 3 washings in hot water before all the waxes are removed and the cotton becomes absorbent.  The baby blankets I've made became silky soft over the years with use and still look great!

Naturally colored cotton yarns are very special.  These fiber colors are grown so they deepen and darken with use, not fading the colors deepen up to 10 washings.  These are very soft yarns and make lovely items like dish towels, hand towel, or bath towels, placemats and table runners, basket liners, curtains, shawls, scarves and blankets.  You need to try this yarn to understand how special it truly is.

10/2 Sampler, 16 ounces/4200 yards including small cones of Olive, Sage, Caramel and Natural  I can substitute or add some 20/2 to this sampler.  It's enough to make about 4 towels + loom waste and sampling.  It takes about 1 pound to make 4 dishtowels at 16x28 inches.  I can put together a sampler of any color you want...all one color, or whatever would work best for you.

This is a good option for KNITTERS if they want to combine strands of different colors together for larger sizes. This yarn is a fine lace weight. Each sampler is a little different.

If you have a request for more of one color than another please let me know.

What others have done with this yarn

This is my most recent project with the organic cotton making fabric with the M and O's pattern. It's still on the loom so the washing will intensify the colors nicely.  I'm using some Fox Fibre, some from Lunatic Fringe and some of the Thantex I used to have to sell. (and still have some sample kits!)

Stephanie K. with her knit baby blanket using several strands of the 10/2 fox fiber.  "The pattern I used for the blanket is fan and feathers, and I used the Fox Fibre yarn with 3 strands together.  It was the sage green, and actually I used 2 strands of the darker color and 1 of the lighter."

Nancy Baum has made a lovely blanket with the 8/2 Buffalo and White.  The pattern is based on the Swarthmore Check Scarf from Handwoven's Design Collection 15.

Nancy wove the 10/2 natural and colorgrown and look at the lovely towels she made!

The patterns are from Handwoven March/April 2002 and May/June 2009.

Monique's towel is from the SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2003 Handwoven by Karen Tenney.  The article is called Bath Accessories au Naturel and it had this great picture of this exact towel

Blanket with buffalo/oatmeal/olive and Natural  I don't have who made this!  The items below are probably from the larger sized yarn I used to have.

8/2 Organic Cotton Dyed Yarn

Shannon crocheted the flower with 6/2 purple (c hook)  and 8/2 green (#4 hook)

These are some Towels I recently finished with the 8/2

They are large at about 24X 28 so I charge $32 each the waffle weave turned out much longer...so it will be $40

these yarns come in about 2 pound cones and in a variety of colors.  I am happy to wind off the amount you want.  They are not as soft as the colorgrown due to the dye process.  This yarn will make great towels, table runners, shawls, and fabric.  Used as warp and a softer weft it will be nice for blankets.

It is $16/lb

  $12 / 12oz

Please use the order form or email me, and I will contact you with the yarns colors available
