          Lynnae's Place

The Living Space

The clutter of this room depicts a place
Neglected, colors hues and earth tones laid
Aside for contemplated use.  Baskets
Of conventional stuff set in odd places, spinning wheels
Half full with yarn that is dangling into the fuzz.

Oak baskets made by my own hands and that
Of the master craftsman grace this room’s disarray.
Dried flowers yarn and seed a wait their destiny
Of useful purpose ~  garden  ~  loom or  ~ wheel.

The state of clutter reflects my mind. I reach
For glories neglected long ago.  The tasks
Once left in search of knowledge laid temptingly
Before me by skilled hands far greater than mine.
And peace far stiller than any I had had. A home
Left in disarray far greater than my mind.

                Polwarth Rovings "City Lights"

We have a lovely supply of organically grown naturally colored cotton yarns, that are really fun to work with.  I'm adding some dyed organic cotton and some wonderful silk yarns.  We've added silk fibers as well as cotton to our selection of quality wool, bamboo and tencel tops. Items are added to the Bargain Bin, so check this once in a while also.

I've added string bags made with organic cotton because this is a way to stop using so much plastic!  They are priced to make them more available for you.  Our fringe twisters and brass drop spindles are handmade and guaranteed to work, or fixed if needed. I've also added some links to purchase hand made items from others using our cottons. Crocheted hats and bags and face cloths are examples.  I enjoy showcasing work of people using our yarns.  There are a couple silk items as well as cotton made from different people. I have woven items that are pictured and listed for inspiration and will begin making more available for purchase.  We are also beginning our own line of hand painted yarns and spinning fibers!

A bit of information about me!

Art and education have been a major focus in life.  Spinning and weaving have taken precedence the past 20 years, as this is an art form I can do while raising five children.  We live in a rural area in Indiana and have tried to live simply, applying grass roots philosophies in our lives.  We started by living in the country, growing foods organically, eating healthily and learning more about holistic healing.  We have homebirthed, homeschooled and contributed some really healthy children to this earth.  I am available if you need help with your homeschooling process and  I've been a teacher for Oak Meadow Schools an accredited distance learning school, the school curriculum I used with my children, for many years. It gives a balance and growth to the school experience. The main resistance towards home schooling has always been the so called lack of socialization.  This has not been a problem for our children.  If anything they are stronger in their beliefs and can relate to anyone and all age levels.  I'm pleased to say the experiment was a success!

My life focus has changed a lot over the years.  I've gained an expertise in fiber arts just from doing it for so many years, having a background in fine art, as well as taking classes and workshops.  I'm really pleased to see life progressing and am beginning a new page in my life working with larger manufacturers to bring quality products to others who are concerned with their quality of life.  I'm looking forward to opening a studio/shop in the near future.  This will happen in New Mexico.
