This yarn makes a really nice accent color with other dyed superwash yarns. I used Kona, which is a merino superwash and a DK weight. It is 1030 yards per pound. The sweater came out just lovely. (yes the sleeves are a bit short for short arms, but it's supposed to be long for winter)

Lots of silk on sale! Please go to the Silk page to see what is available. I will make you a deal on quantity purchases. NEW Silk Yarn from Nepal !! SALE $7.50 a skein 5 skeins $37 - 1kg/ 10 skeins $70
This is a gorgeous shiny white silk yarn with lots of body. It relaxes with washing or dyeing and I did put a little fabric soften in the rinse. The skeins came out lovely. Tightly twisted with lovely drape. It can be woven or knit. It is very knittable doubling the yarn for a larger size, or use as is for lacy knits or socks! It is about 4800 yards per kg/410 yards per 100gr skein. about 2180 yards per pound. I am dyeing some and it is coming out beautifully...drapey and soft, but tighter twist so has more body than the other plyed silks I carry. This yarn feels to be the same size as my 8/2 cotton, and I'm going to try sleying it at 20epi. There are 34wpi. I am going to starch or use the warp paste with this yarn It is very slippery. It is usually used for crochet or knitted items in Nepal. They suggest handing the skein carefully and , "Also it would be better start rolling the yarns on the paper first instead of rolling the yarns alone with a piece of paper, it is easier that way. "Then place the ball in a plastic bag to keep it from slipping too much. Seal the bag with just a little opening for the yarn. You need to make sure you are in control of this yarn or it will tangle, but it is gorgeous. Because it is proving a little challenging I am putting this yarn on sale so you can try it. Introductory price at $10 a skein/$45 500gr ( a little over a pound!) - wash and use the fabric softener for a silky hand. I've been playing and just wanted to show you how nice this yarn dyes.
I used some "old" dyes and got some really neat results. this beautiful purple this is sold out
Annatto is a natural dye. The yarn is more orange than the pictures They turned out a neat golden color. 5 skeins available/ $17.50/100gr /410 yards In the recent years some very tightly twisted reeled silks have become available to us. They are extremely slippery and require some special handling. A ball winder should not be used, unless begin with a paper center, as the yarn slips off and becomes a tangled mess. Hand winding balls using paper to begin the ball is better, but using a swift works the best. This is a very tightly twisted 3ply yarn and relaxes with washing. This is easily accomplished by tying the skein in 3 places, washing in hot soapy water and rinsing with some fabric softener (or I'm told some vinegar). Dyeing does the same thing. It becomes very drapey, but still very a challenge to work with. I let the wet skeins wick into a towel for a little while, then find the center of the skein and with both hands snap the skein from inside a few times to align the threads. In Japan they starch the slick silk thread before weaving. You can do this in the skein. The starch will wash out later, leaving a lovely silky yarn or fabric.
